Natural Gas pipeline companies
With approximately 68, 000 miles of pipelines, Kinder Morgan owns an interest in or operates the largest natural gas network in North America. We serve the major consuming markets of the United States, and our pipelines transport approximately one-third of the natural gas consumed daily in the U.S. Our pipelines are connected to every important natural gas resource play and supply area, including the Eagle Ford, Marcellus, Bakken, Utica, Uinta, Haynesville, Fayetteville and Barnett.
We remain bullish on the future of natural gas and believe that it will be the fuel of choice in North America for many years to come. Certain industry experts project natural gas demand in the U.S. will increase by about 40 percent to nearly 110 billion cubic feet per day during the next decade. This increase in natural gas supply and demand is driving the need for transport capacity from the Marcellus and Utica shale plays to growing demand centers on the Gulf Coast. Additional opportunities include the need for more capacity in the Northeast, demand for gas-fired power generation, LNG exports and exports to Mexico. As a result, our Natural Gas Pipelines business has a plethora of exciting growth opportunities that we are executing and pursuing.
